My journey to becoming a professional photographer was not a direct route. Though I started taking photos in college—black and white, developing my own film, you get the picture—the camera I used was borrowed and had to be returned upon graduation. It wasn’t until years later when I had my two children that I looked to photography as a serious endeavor. I had always wanted professional photos of my babies as they grew, but as a stay-at-home mom, my family living off one income, we couldn’t afford those services. So, I did it myself. I purchased my first semi-pro DSLR camera and a good lens and learned how to use them. I soon realized that my interest in working with light, patterns, and color was actually a talent. And, before I knew it, people started asking me about my work and wanting me to take photos for them! Now, 10 years later, with two not-so-tiny teens and hundreds of photos documenting their lives so far, I decided to take another step—for myself—and launch my photography services as a business. Inspired by my love of family and nature, I focus on capturing special moments in life, such as family portraits, weddings, senior photos, and engagements with the outdoors as a backdrop. When you work with me, I’ll make you as comfortable as possible. I know it can feel weird to pose and have your photo taken, but I’ll work with you until everything feels authentic to who you are. Motivated by faith, I bring a positive attitude and patience to every photo shoot even when the weather doesn’t cooperate or children are fussy. What’s most important to me, is that we work together to capture the true essence of your lifestyle, family, and friends. Living in the Green Mountains of Vermont provides many opportunities for outdoor adventure and I draw inspiration from the natural world surrounding me. The sunsets are spectacular and I love finding the perfect light to highlight each moment, every photo. When I'm not behind the camera I love spending time with my family, snowboarding, or sitting knee-deep in fabric, coordinating colors for my next quilting project.
